ADULT LEADER POSITIONS
Scouts, BSA is youth led but it is also adult supported. Troop 870/5870 needs your help in order to fully meet
the needs of our Scouts. Below is a list of open positions within our committee. Troop Committee Members and
Adult Leaders are essential to the functioning of the troop. This rewarding experience allows adult volunteers
to plan and participate in troop activities, and to participate in the day-to-day operations of the troop. Troop
Committee positions have varied responsibilities that fit with a wide variety of talents and skills.
Training expectations: Troop Committee Members and Adult Leaders must have current Youth Protection Training.
For some positions, additional training is required.

Chartered Organization Representative - Bob Arenson
Responsibilities:
Serve as a liaison between the chartering organization and the troop.
Support the troop's activities and goals aligned with the BSA's mission.
Ensure compliance with BSA policies and guidelines.
Committee Chairperson - Doug Need to fill ASAP!!!*
Responsibilities:
The chair organizes the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated and completed, and presides over the monthly troop committee meetings.
Lead the committee in supporting the troop's programs and activities.
Conduct regular committee meetings and coordinate with other leaders.
Recruit and train adult volunteers for various roles within the troop.
Secretary - Rodger Beckham
Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of committee meetings and decisions.
Handle troop correspondence and communication.
Assist with maintaining troop records and documentation.
Newsletter creation in coordination with scoutmaster
Scoutbook Coordinator - Need to fill ASAP!!!*
Responsibilities:
This committee member updates the scoutbook calendar with event information, updates activity information, and keeps the roster up to date.
Manage the troop's Scoutbook platform, including updating records and tracking advancements.
Assist Scouts, parents, and leaders with using Scoutbook effectively.
Coordinate with the Advancement Coordinator to ensure accurate record-keeping.
Treasurer - Jennifer Kennedy
Responsibilities:
Manage the troop's finances, including budgeting and financial reporting.
Collect and record dues and fees from members.
Coordinate fundraising activities with the Fundraising Coordinator.
Recruitment Coordinator - Need to fill ASAP *
Responsibilities:
This committee member reaches out to Cub Scout Packs to encourage webelo membership. They also reach out to Den Leaders in finding one of our outings for their Webelos to attend as part of the Arrow of Light requirement.
Develop and implement strategies for recruiting new members to the troop.
Coordinate recruitment events and activities.
Work with the Advancement Coordinator to facilitate the transition of new members.
Adult Quartermaster/Equipment Chair - Jerrod Price
Responsibilities:
Manage the troop's equipment and gear inventory.
Ensure equipment is maintained, repaired, and stored properly.
Coordinate equipment needs for troop activities and outings.
Outdoor Chair - Need to fill ASAP ***
Responsibilities:
This committee member does online booking for campsites, or an activity such as a guided rafting trip.
Plan and organize outdoor activities and camping trips.
Ensure adherence to outdoor safety protocols and BSA guidelines.
Coordinate with other leaders to provide a quality outdoor experience for Scouts.
Fundraising Coordinator (Wreaths and Plants) - Jared Burdick
Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns involving wreaths and plants.
Recruit volunteers and organize fundraising events.
Manage fundraising finances and reporting.
Fundraising Coordinator (Tree Crunch) - Ralph and Andrea Procida
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the Free Crunch fundraising campaign.
Work with volunteers to promote and execute fundraising events.
Manage funds and report on fundraising activities.
Advancement Coordinator - Jennifer Greiner (looking to expand, so help would be needed) *
Responsibilities:
Oversee Scouts' advancements and recognition.
Coordinate with Scoutbook Coordinator to track advancements.
Arrange for Boards of Review and facilitate Scouts' progress.
Board of Review Coordinator - Jennifer Greiner
Responsibilities:
Schedule and conduct Boards of Review for Scouts.
Ensure adherence to BSA advancement guidelines during reviews.
Maintain records of Boards of Review outcomes.
Merit Badge Coordinator - Andrea Procida
Responsibilities:
Coordinate merit badge opportunities for Scouts.
Assist Scouts in selecting and completing merit badges.
Maintain records of Scouts' merit badge achievements.
Service Project Coordinator - Need to fill ASAP***
Responsibilities:
This committee member would work with Murray Hills Christian Church, Beaverton Optimist Club and other local groups to schedule quarterly service projects.
Organize and oversee service projects for the troop.
Coordinate with community organizations and track service hours.
Encourage Scouts' participation in service initiatives.
Eagle Mentor/Service Project Coordinator - Ed Henson
Responsibilities:
Mentor Scouts pursuing the Eagle rank.
Guide Scouts through the Eagle Scout service project process.
Coordinate with Service Project Coordinator for project approvals.
Webmaster - Ralph Procida
Responsibilities:
Maintain and update the troop's website with current information.
Communicate troop news, events, and resources online.
Ensure website functionality and user-friendly navigation.
Outdoor Activities Coordinator - Need to fill ASAP***
Responsibilities:
This committee member does online booking for campsites, or an activity such as a guided rafting trips and other outings.
Plan and coordinate outdoor activities beyond regular camping trips.
Organize hikes, nature exploration, and other outdoor adventures.
Ensure safety and compliance with outdoor activity guidelines.
Committee Members - Lorraine Rowlette, James Duffin, Kristy Fleisher, Constantin Vasiliu
Responsibilities:
Attend committee meetings and provide input and support for troop activities.
Assist with specific tasks or projects as assigned by the Chairperson.
Serve as a resource and advocate for Scouts and leaders.
Scoutmasters - Larry Steagall, Rachel Henson
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor Scout patrols and activities.
Implement the troop's program in line with BSA policies.
Foster Scouts' personal growth and leadership development.
Assistant Scoutmasters - Aron Rempel, Craig Vermillion, Jerry Elder, Tom Baxter, Dan Rouse, Matthew Rempel, Michael Rempel, MORE NEEDED ***
Responsibilities:
They report to the Scoutmaster and serves as advisor for all patrols. They require additional training over committee members, which includes Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills and Hazardous Weather Training.
Support Scoutmasters in delivering the troop's program.
Assist with training and guiding Scouts in outdoor skills and leadership.
Provide mentorship and encouragement to Scouts on their advancement paths.
