WELCOME
Scouting America takes great pride in the quality of our adult leadership. Being a leader in Scouting America is a privilege, not a right. The quality of the program and the safety of our youth members call for high-quality adult leaders. In order to go to any troop camping or summer camp, adults must be registered in a particular position with Scouting America. Participation in the Troop can take many forms:
Supporting the scouts by being an Assistant Scoutmaster
Assisting Scouts in earning a Merit Badge by being a Merit Badge Counselor
Helping organize the troop, by being a Committee Member
Adult registration includes a fee paid to Scouting America and adults must complete mandatory Youth Protection Training. Scouting America has a multilayered adult leader selection process that includes criminal background checks administered by a nationally recognized third party and other screening efforts.
See the New Parent Orientation presentation regarding more details for parents when you join Troop 870/5870.
